Császártöltés

Due to weak site conditions, the growth and wood stock of our forests are extremely low therefore efficient forest management is not possible in such inferior stands.

Species composition accurately reflects site conditions: the proportion of conifers is 57%, while the rest of the area is shared by black locust, white poplar and hybrid poplar in low percentages.

3-4 million seedlings are produced annually in the nurseries in Terézhalom and Kecel. Our own products satisfy the needs of our forestry management unit, the partner units and afforestation, as well. Moreover, significant numbers of seedlings are sold.
Forestry
Two-thirds of the cut forests are regenerated by artificial planting of seedlings after stump extraction and deep soil turning and one-third is regenerated by sprouting. About one-third of the planted seedlings are deciduous species and two-thirds are conifers. We also manage
120-200 hectares of afforestation on agricultural marginal sites for private owners.

Tree utilization
On average, 40-45 thousand m3 of wood is harvested from 260 hectares of final and 650 hectares of intermediate harvest area. If possible, our company also purchases wood. Our main assortments include conifer and poplar pulpwood, timber produced for pallet components, black locust firewood, vine poles and fibre-wood. Snow damage in 1997 and 1999 resulted in unfavourable modifications to the annual felling targets set in the ten-year management plan, resulting in a significant increase in the percentage of stock deficient forests.

Game management
Császártöltés forestry management unit carries out game management on 11 634 hectares of forested land that is typical habitat for large game. Dominant game species are red deer, roe deer and wild boar. The quality of the red deer population is good, the biggest trophies may reach 11-12 kg. The quality of the roe deer population is low or medium, with an average trophy weight of 200-350 g. The quality and size of the wild boar population is increasing in areas with dense, thorn-brush undergrowth vegetation, which is ideal for this species.

Education, social welfare
Our forestry management unit manages the well-equipped 3,6ha park forest near Császártöltés, which is visited by thousands of people mainly from neighbouring settlements each year. In 2016 the forest park of Jánoshalmi is also in our management.
